You’re Living Proof, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that is designed to assist individuals whose lives are being restructured as a result of having survived the ravishes of family violence and its numerous generational consequences.
OUR EXPANDED MISSION STATEMENT
You’re Living Proof empowers victims of family violence to become survivors who thrive in all aspects of their new lives by providing an array of tools that promote emotional, spiritual, educational, and financial rehabilitation.
You’re Living Proof advances the roles of survivors by helping them identify unacceptable beliefs and behavior patterns in their relationship and replacing them with the disciplines and behaviors required to accomplish their life’s goals.
You’re Living Proof provides educational, life skills programs, and financial assistance that support the efforts of survivors to successfully transition from abusive relationship.
You’re Living Proof works closely with its network of corporate community partners in its G.A.P. program to continually raise awareness and inspire philanthropic support, creating new ways to utilize private sector strategies and resources to assist in transition and tenancy programs for survivors of domestic violence.
You’re Living Proof founded its literacy program which is called BookCause™ on the fundamental belief that every survivor of domestic violence has the potential to catalyze and impact community transformation when provided with learning opportunities that are accessible and relevant.

THE IMPACT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ON CHILDREN
•Reports by battered mothers show that 87% of children witness the abuse.
•Children who grow up in homes where violence is present are 6 times more likely to commit suicide
•70% of men who abuse their female partners also abuse their children.
•Child abuse, whether by fathers or mothers, is likely to diminish once the battered mother is able to gain access to safety services and achieve separation from the violent father.
•Children who grow up in homes where there is violence are 24 times more likely to be sexually assaulted.
•As violence against women becomes more severe and more frequent in the home, children experience a 300% increase in physical violence by the male batterer.
•15% to 25% of pregnant women are battered.
•Domestic violence is the largest single cause of birth defects in children.
•Children who grow up in homes where there is violence are 1,000 times more likely to become abusers themselves.
•Children whose lives are disrupted by moves to escape domestic violence lose considerable school time and are often unable to enroll in new school districts.
